My Videogame Dump

Fishin’ Bizniz

Fishin’ Bizniz is a simple local versus multiplayer game that 2 classmates and I made for Wesleyan’s IDEA351 class (Videogame Architecture for the Unity Engine). The game has two players competing at hunting/fishing for fish to get the most points at the end. With a variety of fish available, some fish are more desirable than others and will net different points.

For this game, I contributed nearly all art assets (besides the font and UI block elements). I also made some code for animation purposes.

Here is a video showcasing one round of the game!

A Game-A-Week

From February 2024 to May 2024, I participated in a commitment, alongside friends, to create a game every week. Each game had to be created in adherence to the theme of the week. For instance, for the first week, the theme was Spot. I was free to intepret the theme how ever I wanted, but it had to revolve around the idea of spot. As such, I made a simple game where you had to make it to a spot to keep playing.

The allure of this game-a-week was to experiment with new ideas as we improve on our coding capabilities. My favorite game from the end of this commitment was a game called Chunkt. It is a simple arcade game where the goal is to collect chunks and return them to the center point for a chain point bonus. The more chunks you have, the higher your score multiplier! To keep the player on their toes, I made it so the time goes by faster whenever you deposit your chunks. It is a simple alteration but adds a lot to the hectic gameplay as you fling yourself in hopes of finding more chunks to collect. I also experimented with shaders to add a weird hypnotic background, which was inspired by Balatro!

Below is a minute long gameplay video of the game – I am not the best at my own game but I hope to expand on this one day, possibly polishing the control and visual fidelity. I might also move this to Godot from Unity.

This game was the most polished of my games and the one closest to its intended vision. The rest of the games are still ones I am proud of, but closer to proof of concept.

This is a proof of concept of a car game done in Godot. I played around with the sprite stacking technique – in simple terms, overlaying 2D images to create a fake 3D effect. I think this effect is pretty good here, although I might tweak the sprites as some clipping can be seen here and there on the car.
